Ohio State saw its first offensive lineman enter the transfer portal in the 2025 cycle as sophomore tackle Miles Walker announced his departure on Monday, the opening day of the transfer portal window. Walker, a member of the Buckeyes’ 2023 recruiting class, did not appear in any games during his two years in Columbus but had shown promise during his developmental period.

Hailing from Greenwich, Connecticut, Walker was a three-star recruit ranked No. 521 nationally and No. 29 among offensive tackles in the On3 Industry Ranking for the 2023 class. Despite being the lowest-rated offensive line signee for the Buckeyes that year, Walker’s high school performance and physical potential impressed head coach Ryan Day and offensive line coach Justin Frye.

At Brunswick High School, Walker anchored an offensive line that allowed only eight sacks over 200 pass attempts and paved the way for 1,836 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns in 10 games. His athletic versatility extended to baseball, where he also excelled as a two-sport athlete.

Upon arriving in Columbus, Walker began reshaping his body under the guidance of Ohio State’s renowned strength and conditioning program. He joined the Buckeyes as a 6-foot-5, 285-pound tackle but bulked up to 317 pounds during his time on campus. Despite his progress, injuries in his first season limited his opportunities, and he remained buried on the depth chart behind other linemen from his recruiting class, including Luke Montgomery, Austin Siereveld, and Josh Padilla, who have all pushed for playing time.

Walker shed his black stripe last November, a symbolic milestone for Buckeyes players, signaling readiness to contribute on the field. While his developmental trajectory was promising, he ultimately did not see game action during his time with the program.

With three years of eligibility remaining, Walker now enters the transfer portal seeking a fresh start. He joins four other Ohio State players who have entered the portal since the end of the regular season, including wide receivers Kojo Antwi and Jayden Ballard, quarterback Devin Brown, and linebacker Gabe Powers.

The transfer portal window, open from Dec. 9 to Dec. 28, provides an opportunity for players like Walker to evaluate options for the next stage of their collegiate careers. While it’s always tough to lose a player, Buckeye Nation wishes Walker the best as he looks for a new opportunity to fulfill his potential on the field.
