Taylor Thierry has earned her opportunity to compete at the highest level of women’s basketball, and Buckeye Nation couldn’t be more proud. The former Ohio State standout was selected with the 36th overall pick in the third round of the 2025 WNBA Draft by the Atlanta Dream, making her the latest Buckeye to take the next step in a storied tradition of excellence.
During her four-year career in Columbus, Thierry proved herself as a consistent and reliable presence on the court. Starting in three of her four seasons, she averaged double figures in scoring and grabbed at least five rebounds per game each year. In her senior campaign during the 2024–25 season, she posted 10.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and led the team with 2.3 steals per game — a testament to her versatility, defensive intensity, and leadership.

Thierry now becomes the 20th Ohio State player ever selected in the WNBA Draft. Her selection marks the third consecutive year the Buckeyes have had a player drafted, continuing a strong pipeline from Columbus to the professional ranks. While she was the only Buckeye drafted this year, she won’t be the only one with a shot at a WNBA roster in 2025.
Ajae Petty, who played her final season at Ohio State after transferring from Kentucky, signed a training camp contract with the Minnesota Lynx. Petty contributed significantly to the Buckeyes’ frontcourt, averaging 9.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Her invitation to training camp is a well-deserved chance to show what she can bring at the next level.

Ohio State continues to produce WNBA-ready talent, joining a proud lineage that includes recent stars like Jacy Sheldon, Celeste Taylor, and Taylor Mikesell, as well as veterans such as Kelsey Mitchell, Jantel Lavender, and Katie Smith. With Thierry’s name now added to the list, Buckeye fans can look forward to following her professional journey and cheering her on as she represents Ohio State on the national stage.
