One of Ohio State’s top targets in the 2025 recruiting class has decided to leave the state of Ohio and play for Alabama, which was the school that both his mom and step father have been cheering for.
Justin Hill, a senior from Winton Woods High School in Cincinnati, announced his commitment to Alabama on Wednesday. Hill chose the Crimson Tide over Ohio State, Oregon, and USC.
Since extending an offer to Hill on March 23, 2023, Ohio State’s coaching staff, including defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, defensive line coach Larry Johnson, and linebackers coach James Laurinaitis, made significant efforts to secure the four-star edge prospect. Despite this, Hill’s official visit to Alabama swayed his decision, resulting in his commitment to the Crimson Tide.
Hill’s commitment marks Alabama’s 22nd in the 2025 class, strengthening their position over Georgia for the second-best class nationally and challenging Ohio State for the top spot.
Currently, Ohio State also boasts 22 commitments for 2025, including three five-star, 16 four-star, and four three-star recruits. Among these are defensive ends Zahir Mathis, Zion Grady, and London Merritt, as well as linebackers Tarvos Alford and Eli Lee.
Looking ahead, four-star linebacker Riley Pettijohn is set to announce his commitment on Saturday. The McKinney, Texas native will choose between Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State, and USC.
Ohio State fans remain optimistic as the Buckeyes continue to build a strong class, aiming to secure top talent and maintain their competitive edge in college football.
