Emeka Egbuka had a standout day for Ohio State in yesterday’s game against Iowa, delivering a career-best performance with three touchdown receptions. His efforts helped the Buckeyes cruise to a commanding 35-7 lead, and Egbuka’s contributions were significant not only for the game but for his career as a whole.
Egbuka’s first touchdown came early in the contest on a 14-yard corner route, where he outmaneuvered Iowa’s defense to give Ohio State an early lead. His second score was a 15-yard grab on a well-executed wheel route, with quarterback Will Howard perfectly placing the ball, and Egbuka showcasing his knack for adjusting mid-air to secure the touchdown. Finally, on a crucial 3rd-and-goal, Egbuka hauled in a 3-yard pass, completing his touchdown hat trick and bringing his total to five touchdowns for the season.
With yesterday’s game, Egbuka made major strides in the Ohio State record books. He moved into the top 10 all-time for career receiving yards with 2,290. He is now tied for seventh in career receptions at Ohio State with 154, sharing the spot with Gary Williams. Additionally, after his three-touchdown performance, Egbuka is now tied for 10th in school history for career receiving touchdowns, bringing his total to 19.
