This is the game outside of “The Game” against Michigan that every Ohio State fan has had circled on the calendar: Ohio State takes on Oregon tonight. It’s a top-three showdown that brings back memories of past battles, particularly the 2014 College Football Playoff final. Ohio State legend Cardale Jones, the quarterback who led the Buckeyes to victory in that game, knows what it takes to beat the Ducks.

This week, Jones was chosen to narrate the game trailer for Ohio State’s clash with Oregon, and in doing so, he drew comparisons between the 2024 Buckeyes and his 2014 squad.

“I remember it well,” Jones said in the trailer. “More than just any game, it’s a battle of legacy. The energy of the crowd and the intensity of the moment. This moment is not so different. You want to see greatness? You want to leave a legacy? It’s time to let it all go. … This journey is taking us down a new path, where the past has paved the road of greatness in the spirit of scarlet and gray.”

The message from Jones, along with strong words from Donovan Jackson, Josh Fryar, Lathan Ransom, and head coach Ryan Day, fueled the anticipation for this highly awaited matchup. Day ended the video with a rallying cry: “Best team in the country! The Ohio State Buckeyes! Fight on three — one, two, three, Fight!”

With the stakes so high, Ohio State looks destined to bring out a special look for the game, possibly wearing its all-white “Sub Zero” uniforms. The team’s social media teases throughout the week, including a post showing a player standing in front of Autzen Stadium, have intensified rumors. Oregon, meanwhile, will wear all-black uniforms, adding even more drama to the game’s atmosphere.

This will be only the second time Ohio State wears these “Sub Zero” whites, first debuted in 2020 against Michigan State. The Buckeyes have also worn similar all-white uniforms, often referred to as “Cocaine Whites,” in past road games at Michigan and Penn State.

Ohio State and Oregon will kick off at 7:30 p.m. EST, with NBC broadcasting the game as part of its Big Ten Saturday Night special. Buckeye fans know that this showdown could be one of the defining moments of the 2024 season.
