Ohio State Buckeyes have dominated the preseason All-America lists, with multiple players recognized across various outlets. Leading all teams, the Buckeyes have a total of seven players named to the USA TODAY Sports preseason All-America team, more than any other program. Among the first-team selections are running back Quinshon Judkins, offensive guard Donovan Jackson, cornerback Denzel Burke, and safety Caleb Downs. The second team includes running back TreVeyon Henderson, who joins Judkins to form one of the strongest backfields in college football.
These preseason honors were selected by a 19-person panel from the USA TODAY Sports Network, highlighting the depth of talent on Ohio State’s roster. Notably, Judkins transferred from Mississippi, bringing 1,158 yards and 15 touchdowns to the Buckeyes, while Downs is coming off a standout season with 107 tackles, marking him as one of the most impactful transfers of the offseason.
Ohio State’s presence on these lists doesn’t stop there. The Athletic also released its preseason All-America teams, with Ohio State leading all schools with four players selected. Donovan Jackson and Caleb Downs were named to the first team, while wide receiver Emeka Egbuka and defensive tackle Tyleik Williams secured spots on the second team.
The Athletic emphasized that these selections were made from a pool of the best players entering the 2024 season, with Ohio State leading the way among 30 represented schools. Jackson was highlighted alongside top offensive linemen from across the country, and Downs stood out among elite defensive backs. Egbuka and Williams, though on the second team, were recognized among the top players in their respective positions, further showcasing Ohio State’s depth.
These accolades add to a growing list of preseason honors for the Buckeyes. Seven players were featured on Phil Steele’s preseason All-American squads in June, and five earned recognition from the Walter Camp Football Foundation in July, underscoring Ohio State’s reputation as one of the most talent-rich teams in college football heading into the 2024 season.
