Marvin Harrison Jr. wasted no time making his mark in Week 2 of the NFL season, reminding everyone why he was the No. 4 overall pick in this year’s draft. After a rocky debut where he caught just one pass for four yards, the former Ohio State star silenced any doubters with a dazzling first-quarter performance that left fans buzzing.
Harrison recorded four catches for 130 yards and two touchdowns — all in the first quarter — as the Arizona Cardinals rolled to a dominant 41-10 win over the Los Angeles Rams. He became the first rookie to post four receptions and two touchdowns in the opening quarter of a game since his father, Marvin Harrison Sr., accomplished the same feat 28 years ago. Not only did Harrison Jr. match his Hall of Fame father’s rookie milestone, but he also exceeded his dad’s highest single-game yardage total from that rookie season.
For Ohio State fans, it was a moment of pride, watching Harrison Jr. continue the Buckeye-to-NFL pipeline success. His first NFL touchdown, a signature toe-tap in the back of the end zone, had Buckeye faithful reminiscing about his dominant college days. Just two minutes later, he hauled in a deep pass from Kyler Murray and took it 60 yards for his second touchdown, making sure his name was back in the headlines for all the right reasons.
After an underwhelming Week 1, there was chatter about Harrison’s readiness. But as he said after his breakout game, “You can never get too high, never get too low.” That even-keeled approach, a hallmark of his time at Ohio State, was on full display as he calmly turned the page from a forgettable debut to a history-making performance.
And while his on-field heroics were enough to earn him the “Pro Buck of the Week” as the top Ohio State performer in the NFL, Harrison also collected a unique honor: the Nickelodeon Valuable Player (NVP) award. In a fun post-game moment, his teammate and fellow Buckeye alum Paris Johnson Jr. celebrated by sliming him in true Nickelodeon fashion, a playful nod to Harrison’s growing stardom.
Harrison Jr.’s Week 2 outburst not only helped the Cardinals secure their first win of the season, but also showed why Buckeye fans were so excited about his NFL potential. As he continues to develop chemistry with Kyler Murray, the sky’s the limit for this Ohio State standout. Up next, Harrison and the Cardinals face the Detroit Lions — and all eyes will be on what he has in store.
