The Ohio State baseball team ended their regular season on Saturday with a tough 12-1 loss to Rutgers in seven innings, but won the series two games to one. Despite the defeat in series finale, the Buckeyes finished with an overall record of 28-24 and a Big Ten record of 12-12, which was a significant improvement from the past two seasons, and good enough to earn a spot in the Big Ten Tournament.

Under the leadership of second-year head coach Bill Mosiello, Ohio State had a more successful year in the Big Ten. Last season, the Buckeyes missed the postseason, but this year, they have earned a spot in the Big Ten Tournament. This is the first time they have made it to the tournament since they won it all in 2019. The tournament was canceled in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2019, Ohio State entered the tournament as the seventh seed and managed to win it. This year, they have earned the seventh seed again and will face the second seed Nebraska Cornhuskers in Omaha, Nebraska on Tuesday. The Cornhuskers won their series against Ohio State earlier this month, taking two out of three games.

However, the Buckeyes have a history of success against Nebraska in the postseason. When Ohio State last won the Big Ten Tournament in 2019, they beat Nebraska 3-1. Fans are hopeful that the Buckeyes can repeat their past success. The first pitch is scheduled for 2 pm. Let’s go Buckeyes!
