Ohio State’s football team was gearing up for an impressive recruiting weekend, and so far, the returns on that investment have been big. Tarvos Alford, a standout linebacker from Vero Beach, Florida, has officially committed to joining the Buckeyes for the 2025 season. This exciting news comes hot on the heels of another commitment the team received just the day before, when fellow Floridian London Merritt also committed to the Buckeyes.
Hailing from the Sunshine State, Alford is making waves as one of the top linebackers in the country, according to 247Sports. Ranked 63rd nationally in their composite rankings, Alford brings a wealth of talent and potential to Ohio State’s roster.
The addition of Alford marks the second linebacker commitment in the 2025 class, joining fellow Ohio native Eli Lee. Defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and linebackers coach James Laurinaitis are thrilled to have Alford on board, recognizing him as the “total package” on the field.
Standing at 6 feet 2 inches and weighing in at 210 pounds, Alford is not only a formidable force on the gridiron but also a super athletic one at that. Known as a tackling machine, he showcased his skills last season as a junior, tallying an impressive 114 tackles, along with 4 sacks, 3 QB hurries, and an interception.
But Alford’s talents aren’t limited to the football field. He’s also a track star at the prep level, contributing to a 4×100 team that qualified for regionals in 2022. His personal bests include a swift 11.67 seconds in the 100-meter dash and a speedy 23.88 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
For Ohio State, Alford’s commitment is another feather in their recruiting cap. With a strong recruiting weekend behind them, the Buckeyes are poised for continued success on the recruiting trail.
