Ohio State continues to make waves in the 2026 recruiting cycle, securing its second in-state offensive line commitment with the addition of Archbishop Hoban’s Sam Greer. The four-star tackle pledged to the Buckeyes on Tuesday, giving new offensive line coach Tyler Bowen another key piece in his early tenure. With Greer’s commitment, Ohio State now boasts six total commitments in the 2026 class and two elite offensive linemen, as he joins fellow Ohioan Maxwell Riley.
Bowen, known for his recruiting prowess dating back to his time at Penn State, wasted no time making his mark in Columbus. He quickly prioritized both Greer and Riley, forming strong relationships with the two top-rated offensive linemen in Ohio. That effort has paid off handsomely, as both players have committed early, giving Ohio State’s offensive line class a strong foundation.
Riley, who announced his commitment on March 10, played an active role in recruiting Greer to the Buckeyes. His influence, combined with Bowen’s persistent pursuit, made the decision an easy one for Greer, who had been a longtime Ohio State fan. In a recruiting rarity, Greer’s first Division I offer came directly from Ohio State on April 5, 2023, during a visit to Columbus. Head coach Ryan Day saw immense potential in the towering lineman and extended an offer based on his size, athleticism, and overall potential. Much like fellow Buckeye commit Mylan Graham in previous cycles, Greer’s recruitment ended the way it began—with a pledge to the Scarlet and Gray.

Greer’s commitment seemed almost inevitable given his strong connection to the program. Over the past year, he became a familiar face on campus, attending a gameday visit in November, the Buckeyes’ championship celebration in January, and multiple spring practices, including his most recent visit on Tuesday when he officially committed to Bowen and Day. His enthusiasm for Ohio State was evident from the start, making him a natural addition to the Buckeyes’ 2026 class.
At 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, Greer possesses the prototypical frame to excel as a collegiate tackle. He currently ranks as the No. 188 overall prospect and the No. 17 offensive tackle in the nation per 247Sports’ composite rankings. His skill set includes quick and violent hands, an ability to get to the second level efficiently, and a strong finishing ability. His background as a multi-sport athlete, excelling in basketball, further highlights his agility and overall athleticism—traits that will serve him well in the trenches.
Ohio State has faced challenges in past recruiting cycles in consistently landing true tackle prospects, but Bowen is already reversing that trend. With Greer and Riley in the fold, the Buckeyes have two of the most talented offensive linemen in the country, setting a strong foundation for the 2026 class. The Buckeyes remain in pursuit of additional top-tier offensive linemen, including national prospects Jackson Cantwell, Micah “Champ” Smith, and Felix Ojo, among others.

Greer will likely need a year or two of development and strength training before stepping into a starting role, but his upside is undeniable. With the right coaching and time in Ohio State’s strength program, he has the potential to become an All-Big Ten caliber player and a cornerstone of the Buckeyes’ offensive front in the years to come.
Adding to the intrigue, Greer is also the teammate of Ohio State’s top remaining in-state target, five-star cornerback Elbert Hill. The Buckeyes will hope to leverage their growing pipeline from Archbishop Hoban to add yet another elite prospect to their 2026 class.
Bowen’s relentless recruiting efforts have already positioned Ohio State for success in the trenches, and with Greer’s commitment, the Buckeyes continue to build a dominant foundation for the future.
