The Buckeyes remain firmly in the third spot in both the AP and Coaches Polls after their Week 3 bye, with no major shakeups for Ohio State.
In the AP Poll, the Buckeyes held their position while Texas jumped Georgia for the top spot. This move came after Georgia’s lackluster 13-12 road win over Kentucky, which opened the door for the Longhorns to claim the No. 1 ranking. Penn State and Miami also swapped places in the top 10, keeping things interesting in the rankings.
Elsewhere in the Big Ten, Illinois managed to break into the AP Top 25, joining Texas A&M, who made a significant leap. Meanwhile, Arizona tumbled out of the rankings following a loss to Kansas State. Over in the Coaches Poll, Ohio State slipped behind Texas after the Longhorns’ dominant 56-7 win over UTSA. Even with Quinn Ewers leaving the game early due to injury, Texas made a statement, while Ohio State’s inactivity during the bye week cost them a spot. UNLV made the biggest jump in the Coaches Poll, rising nine spots into the Top 25, while Arizona again suffered the biggest drop.
For Ohio State fans, this is just another reminder that rankings can fluctuate during a bye week. However, the Buckeyes are set to get back to business this Saturday, taking on Marshall at home (Noon, FOX). Expect a strong performance as they look to solidify their place among the top contenders.
